The United States is the richest country on earth and most of its citizens say it is a Christian Nation. In many states of the country the least amongst us are being sorely affected by the government shutdown.
What is happening in Nevada is not unique, but is representational of situations in other states.
In Nevada 264,000 people who are on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs, run by the USDA, are going to lose their assistance because Governor Brian Sandoval says he simply doesn't have the $50 million a month it will take to keep those funds coming. SNAP provides baby formulas, nutrition for infants and children of impoverished parents. Hopefully, Nevada's charitable institutions will be able to provide food for hungry babies and children.
