THOUGHTS ON TORPEDOING IRAN NUCLEAR TALKS

Bill Hessell shared your blog post on Google+
What a great byline for an article on the individuals and institutions in the US that typically push for an aggressive military stance, even initiating warfare, in problematic situations:  the Usual Suspects.  They can almost be named without reading the article--John Bolton, the American Enterprise Institute, Lindsay Graham, the Heritage Foundation, Dick Cheney, John McCain, the list could go on, but very predictable.  Whether it is wanting to torpedo the Iranian nuclear development negotiations, as in this case, or accelerate drone attacks, or begin military operations against Syria, or stay in Afghanistan longer, or stymie Palestine-Israeli peace prospects by insisting on tolerance if not full support of Israel's demands in the settlement, they are indeed the usual suspects.  The sources of their support are probably predictable too--the military-defense-surveillance industry, AIPAC, neocons that still exist in our academic institutions. The world is rapidly changing, as is the world's power structure and how power can now be best used to influence events, but these people and their mode of thinking has not changed, and they threaten to drag us all into continual, unresolvable conflict.
