The concern about boredom among the troops during times of relative peace can be taken as yet another reason why the culture of violence and war becomes so self-perpetuating. War creates more enemies, a strong military exists to be used, there are defense industry profits to be made, natural resources and product markets to be gained, political victories to win by flexing strength, and now another reason the war culture rolls on, troops get bored when not in action. Often returning home with post traumatic stress disorder, almost better adjusted to remain in action? Those resisting the war culture, wanting to shift from the tendency to fight first, before exhausting all avenues of negotiation and non-violent resolution, face a daunting task in breaking the self-perpetuating features of war.
BRASS WORRIES THAT W/0 WAR TROOPS GETTING BORED
This was an incredible story that Dr. Hessell is responding to. The New York Times actually quotes military commanders saying the troops and bored and need something to do. One expressed delight that his troops were being deployed to Africa. What for? To protect oil and mineral interests of corporations? Yes, they are are there supposedly to fight terrorists but why? There is absolutely no proof that Al Quada affiliates are a threat to the U.S. homeland.

We will not accept Donald Trump's bigotry, homophobia, sexism, racism, xenophobia, authoritarianism, ignorance and stupidity. Already our democratic republic has been replaced by oligarchy. What next, outright fascism? As our articles will show, Trump is following the path of Adolf Hitler as a passive, confused media grovels for access.
