THOUGHTS ON PATRIOTS TRYING TO END NSA TYRANNY

There are, fortunately,  a few real patriots in Congress.  On the issue of NSA, Leahy and
Sensenbrenner are demonstrating their patriotism by trying to rein in NSA's activities to conform to constitutional limits.  But recent history shows that there are far too few real patriots in Wash. DC., too many self-serving, short-sighted politicians who can't see beyond the demands of their corporate donors  and their fears of not conforming to the party line.  Russ Feingold was a true patriot in voting against the original inception of the Patriot Act, but was promptly voted out of the Senate thanks to Koch Bros. money and misinformation.  In the last several decades this has been happening all too often. We need more patriots to stand up on the vital issues of the day.  NSA is one, climate change is one, along with election reform. Curtailing mindless wars is another.  Also  tax, financial, and corporate reform to allow the middle class and lower classes a chance to thrive and recover, so our society can again be considered compassionate, rather than adversarial, with government catering to the wealthy, and the majority of citizens left to struggle, as is now to evident. The current chance of any of these needs being met in Wash. DC: minimal.  Time for more true patriots to stand up.  Not too likely, the opposition is well-funded, organized, and pervasive.  The changes are unlikely unless the public rises up in a chorus of demands.  We are the ones who need to be the patriots.
