THOUGHTS ON U.S. WAR HAWKS

Bill Hessell shared your blog post on Google+
The Hawks in the US need to be reminded that our nation has not won a war of any major consequence since World War 2. Korea was a draw at best, and could have been settled earlier, with much less loss of life, with the current division if we had not tried to push for total victory. Vietnam ended in full defeat, and again could have ended much earlier if hawks hadn't sabotaged peace talks and in fact expanded the war, greatly increasing the loss of life. Iraq can not be considered a success, just read the daily casualties of sectarian fighting. Involving ourselves in fighting between right-wing governments in the America's and their opponents has created more enemies for the US than friends, as we have typically backed the faction opposed by a majority of the people. The only war we have actually won in the last 65 years is the Cold War with the Soviet Union, and that was won without warfare against our opponent. Containment through peaceful strength and timely negotiation can win battles. Not allowing that process to play out with Iran would be a grave error, and more blood on the Hawks hands.
