EXPOSE CIA COVERUP; PROSECUTE TORTURERS

March 13, 2014
Dear Friend,
CODEPINK
While Senator Feinstein is feuding with the CIA over its spying and lying, let’s not forget what’s at the heart of this feud: the post-9/11 practice of torture and the fact that no one has been held accountable. Help change that blight on our history by taking action now: Tell the Senate Intelligence Committee and President Obama to declassify the Senate Torture Report!

Once the Torture Report is made public, we can push for the prosecution of those responsible. We have no doubt that CIA Director John Brennan was complicit–– he has even publicly condoned torture! Help us tweet at President Obama that you want to see Brennan fired immediately, check out our sample tweets.

Yesterday the CODEPINK DC crew visited Senator Feinstein’s office and told her that she should demand accountability not just for the CIA spying on her Intelligence Committee, but for CIA torture. Tell her and her Committee colleagues to make the public the Senate’s torture report!

We should also point out Senator Feinstein’s hypocrisy when it comes to spying. As head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, she has been one of the staunchest defenders of the NSA’s mass spying and has condemned Edward Snowden as a traitor. We completely agree with Edward Snowden that this is an example where “an elected official does not care at all that the rights of millions of ordinary citizens are violated by our spies, but suddenly it's a scandal when a politician finds out the same thing happens to them.” We support Feinstein’s opposition to CIA spying on her committee, and we also want her to support our opposition to NSA spying on us!
Let’s seize the moment to rein in a CIA that has tortured, destroyed evidence, spied on Congress, and lied to the American people. Email the Committee and President Obama now!
Onward toward justice and accountability,
Alli, Cayman, Farah, Janet, Jodie, Kate, Lisa, Medea, Nancy, Sarah, Sergei and Tighe
