SHE SHOULD KNOW HER PLACE
A Fox & Friends segment on Monday warned women looking to succeed in business "not to raise their voices" and not to talk too much.
Fox News host Steve Doocy introduced Sylvia Ann Hewlett, author of "Executive Presence." She suggested that women should remember that their traditional role was to be "barefoot and pregnant."
"Women who aspire to rise in corporate America should keep that in mind in the presence of male executives who have the power to control their success. They can show that subservience by keeping their voices down and dressing appropriately."
Co-host Anna Kooiman, however, argued that "women shouldn't be so focused on what we look like, and what we're wearing, but what our mind can do."
"But it is appropriate for women to Keep it low, don't speak loud." co-host Brian Kilmeade added. "And above all women need to be endearing."
Hewlett also said that women who seek success shouldn't appear to be working too hard to be attractive. "And women need to appear to be confidant, but not over-confident."
Ms.Hewlett agreed and added "women who seek to climb the executive ladder need to appear to be the kind of gal who, outside of work hours would like to cuddle up and look like a sexual pervert for her man at home."
Doocy said, " I don't care if she's got a University of Chicago MBA and graduated with highest honors. If it doesn't look like she can wear an apron in the kitchen or she might be a nag in a relationship, she just isn't going to be hired."
"The upshot is that women should know their place," said Doocy.
Make Keith Shirey's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)
