After Hong Kong the NSA whistleblower arrived in Moscow, but he did not depart for Cuba as expected.

An empty passenger seat believed to be reserved by former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden is seen on a plane to Cuba in Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport on June 24.

Edward Snowden has gone underground again.
A day after his passage from Hong Kong to Moscow, Snowden's whereabouts were a secret — protected by the anti-secrecy organization WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange.
“He is in a safe place. His spirits are high," said Assange. "Due to the bellicose threats coming from the U.S. administration, we can't go into further details at this time. Unfortunately, we can't reveal what country he is in."
The man who leaked documents hinting at the scale of the National Security Agency's surveillance had been expected to depart for Cuba Monday morning and then travel on to Ecuador or perhaps Venezuela, where he would seek asylum.
