You probably wouldn't feed your pup rotten meat you found in the garbage. But that might be what's in his dog food.
Dear Friend.
The Food and Drug Administration goes a long way to make sure that people aren't eating food that's rotten, damaged or could otherwise hurt them. But there are almost none of the same protections in place for our pets. Usually, our pets' food packaging is decorated with juicy cuts of meat and fresh fruits. But most of the time, it's being made with salvaged chicken or rotting vegetables -- food you'd never put in front of your beloved pet if it weren't in disguise. Many people think of their pet as part of their family. But we'd never feed our family dinner that could hurt or even kill them. As of now, there are no state or federal rules to protect our pets from harmful foods. It's up to us to change that. Demand better FDA regulations for pet food.
