OBAMA, BYPASS CONGRESS ON RAPE, SIGN PETITION HERE

The rate of sexual assaults in the military is on the rise. Survivors can't access the benefits they deserve. Congress is dragging its feet on a solution. It's time for the Commander-in-chief to act.

Dear Friend:

According to the Pentagon, there were 26,000 sexual assaults in the military last year, a 27% increase from the year before. The reality is that the rate is likely far, far higher.

Those who serve our country deserve our President's support. Tell President Obama to take executive action to provide immediate help to survivors of sexual assault in the military.

This unspoken epidemic is finally gaining a little bit of attention, but not nearly enough. President Obama mentioned sexual assault in his commencement address to the Naval Academy, but challenging individuals to follow an "inner compass" and taking executive action to actually end the violence are two different things.

Memorial Day is the one day a year when members of the military have our undivided national attention. This year, we need to focus that attention on the issue of sexual assault in the military. It is such a systemic problem that earlier this month, the Air Force Chief of Sexual-Assault Prevention was arrested on sexual battery charges.
