SIGN PETITION TO STOP RAPE IN THE MILITARY-ACT NOW!

Friend,  please click here to sign the petition from Daily Kos and EMILY's List standing with the Democratic women of the Senate who are fighting to change the way the military handles sexual assault.

More and more women in the military are coming forward with horrific reports of sexual assault by their superiors. At Fort Hood, a sergeant responsible for monitoring sexual assault was reported to have mistreated female subordinates himself—including forcing them into prostitution.

But with a record number of women serving in the United States Senate, including five Democratic women on the Armed Services Committee, there are leaders making real noise and taking real action.

Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) has mobilized her campaign operation and is holding up the high-level nomination of a senior Air Force officer who overturned a jury conviction in a sexual assault case last year.

Meanwhile, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is taking the lead on passing legislation that will prevent military commanders from handling sexual assault cases that involve their subordinates.

This is what happens when we elect more Democratic women to the U.S. Senate—not just words, but real action. Let them know they have your support as they fight.

Please click here to join Daily Kos and EMILY’s List in thanking Sens. Claire McCaskill and Kirsten Gillibrand for taking real action to change the way the military handles sexual assault.

Keep fighting,
Rachel Colyer, Daily Kos
