SIGN PETITION TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING-ACT NOW!

List of Global Warming Petitions   /   Climate Change Petitions

climate change petitionsGlobal Warming Petitions:
This is a real power action for everyone concerned about global warming. All it takes is about 15 minutes of your time and can make a world of difference for our planet.
Copenhagen negotiations in December 2009 failed to deliver a global treaty for sufficient emission reductions to solve the climate crisis. But the international negotiations are not over and we must ensure we can get a binding global agreement as soon as possible.
Here is a list of current online petitions and other online actions related to global warming. Please sign them all.

(If you know of an global warming related petition that is not on the list, please let us know by sending an email to:climatepetitions@easydonations.net)

  • Background:
According to IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) we only have until 2015 to turn the global greenhouse gas emissions to a downward trend. This gives us only six years to start achieving global emission reductions – emissions, which are currently growing faster and faster every year. Unless we get the emissions to peak no later than 2015, it will be almost impossible to limit global warming to below 2 degrees. Should we go beyond the 2 degrees, positive feedback mechanisms become more likely and we risk ending up in a situation where the earth will start heating itself up all by itself. This is called run-away global warming and we definitely don't want to reach this point. This is why we need to be able to limit the global emissions in only a few years time, in order to prevent disastrous climate change.
The Climate negotiations in Copenhagen in December 2009 failed to reach a binding treaty for timely global emission reductions. But the UN climate negotiations didn't end at Copenhagen – we must keep the pressure on to get a binding treaty as soon as possible. Please sign all of the above petitions and follow websites like 350.org andhttp://www.onehundredmonths.org/ to stay informed.
