CATHOLIC CARDINAL CALLS U.S. AMBASSADOR "FAGGOT"

THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS NO MORAL AUTHORITY ON SEXUAL MATTERS!  WHY WASN'T THIS ASSHOLE REPRIMANDED BY THE POPE?

Catholic Cardinal calls gay US ambassador nominee a “faggot”

A Cardinal of the Catholic Church called President Obama’s nominee to be ambassador to the Dominican Republican a “faggot” this past weekend.
López-Rodríguez-featured
The President’s nominee, James “Wally” Brewster, is openly gay.  The Cardinal, who is also the Catholic Church’s Archbishop of Santo Domingo, Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez, reportedly has a stranglehold on Dominican politics, and like most Catholic leaders is notoriously anti-gay.
The Cardinal’s bigoted comments were first reported by J. Lester Feder of Buzzfeed.
The blog Blabbeando took the original video of López Rodríguez calling ambassador-nominee Brewster a “faggot” and posted English subtitles. López Rodríguez was being interviewed in Spanish, and uses the Spanish slur “maricones,” which means “faggots.”
López Rodríguez’ comments occur around 49 seconds into the video:
This is pretty egregious, even by Catholic standards.  Using the word “faggot” for anyone, let alone the nominee to be the next US ambassador to a country, is bad enough.  But for a Catholic Cardinal – one of the leaders of the Catholic Church – to use words like “faggot” is really beyond the pale.
What’s next?  Does Pope Francis’s Vatican embrace the n-word for blacks, and the c-word for women now too?
What kind of organization tolerates these kind of slurs, let alone the rape of children?  Paula Deen, a TV chef, lost her entire career for admitting insensitivity to minorities.  But a Catholic Cardinal does the same, and it’s no big deal – just another day at the altar.  After all, when you aid and abet pedophilia, and the literal enslavement of women, what’s a bigoted slur against hundreds of millions of citizens of the world?
I grew up Christian, but not Catholic.  And even after coming to terms with being gay, I never fully understand why so many of my gay friends who grew up Catholic had such a visceral hatred for the Catholic Church.  Now I do.
