Have you seen the new Pentagon budget? Have you seen how Congress talks about war? If we're moving our country away from militarism, we need to get to work now.

In the past few days, President Obama requested the largest Pentagon budget in history. And he asked Congress to retroactively approve and support ongoing U.S. military action in Syria by approving a new Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF). As a statement of principles, these actions are an insidious way to fight a war.

These actions only move us further down the path we've been on for years—toward disinvestment in our communities and investment in military solutions no matter what the human and economic costs.
Send a letter to your elected officials, telling them to vote "no" on the new AUMF.

Intended to fight ISIS, the new AUMF is modeled on the 2001 AUMF that was intended to fight Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. Thirteen years later, that AUMF has been used to justify military action in 13 countries. Where will this new one take us?
