As a bill advances in the Senate to outlaw discrimination against LGBT people, GOP Speaker of The House, John Boehner said that he would oppose such a bill because "it will increase frivolous litigation and cost Americans jobs, particularly small business jobs.
As the New York Times points out, "That kind of excuse was used decades ago to try to block legislation to outlaw discrimination on the basis of race, age, gender, national origin and disabilities."
Furthermore there is no evidence to support the Speaker's economic argument.
The legislation is urgently needed because only 17 states have laws protecting people against job discrimination because of sexual and gender orientation.
Fear of the Tea Party, religious neanderthals, and the desire to keep his job has turned Boehner into a quivering, cowering orange-faced asshole.
