NO PAINKILLERS TO EASE SUFFERING AT END OF LIFE SAYS GOD

                                             PEOPLE OF FAITH
In the Los Angeles Times of 11/11/13 there is a front page story entitled, "Murder Or Mercy?"  It is, in part,  a story of an ailing World War II veteran who commits suicide.  Before his death the 88 year old man told his son, because of his terminal illness, that breathing was like waterboarding.  In hospice care, he found no real pain relief and in his suicide note said that "two more weeks of this is sheer torture."
But this man has missed a glorious opportunity.  He evidently did not know of true Holy Ghost teaching.  His suffering, especially suffering during the last moments of his life, has a special place in God's loving plan for us; it is in fact a sharing in Christ's passion and union with the Holy Blood redeeming sacrifice which he offered in obedience to his Loving Father's will.  That his painkillers did not relieve his horrible suffering could have been a wonderful blessing if only he had used the opportunity to identify with the beautiful pain and suffering of Christ crucified.
The  2 paragraphs above are not parody.  They are remarks about the use of painkillers in situations of terminal illness by “Christians” easily found all over the internet.  That such people and ideas could be taken seriously, evidently by millions of “true believers” is obviously a manifestation of a profound culturally patterned defect in American culture.   Those who espouse such cruel, painfully sadistic ideas as unremitting, unnecessary suffering are obvious perverts.  One can imagine some of them, like medieval monks, beating themselves with ropes into orgasm.

In the media they are their followers are often called “people of faith,” and “values voters.”
