THOUGHTS ON VIOLENT MILITAINMENT

Bill Hessell shared your blog post on Google+
Violence clearly does sell as entertainment, and now is pervasive in video games, movies, people watching the latest outbreak of violence on daily TV.  So it is now marketed as militanment, and sold by the military-entertainment industry.  Violence not only sells, it tragically produces more violence.  Mass shootings, non-criminal people loosing all control and committing horrendous crimes, simple disagreements leading to violence, nations choosing war as an option, not a necessity.  All tragic unintended consequences of selling violence as a form of entertainment.  Or are they unintended? Psychological research has shown for years that exposure to violence tends to produce more violence.  With movies, TV, and video games, the profit motive rules.  But the Pentagon's involvement in supporting media violence is unconscionable.  Are they preparing us for more optional wars, to produce a nation of warriors, not of people oriented towards peace.  The constant barrage of domestic violence in the daily papers reveal just how that is working out.
WAR IS ENTERTAINMENT SPECTACLE IN U.S. CULTURE
