The omnibus farm appropriation bill passed by The House today provides for the establishment of 500 Marie Antoinette Cake Centers in the 17 states who get $800 million per year in food stamp cuts provided by the bill, affecting some 2 million men, women, and children. The legislation also includes the usual millions in subsidies for America's farms, mostly run by huge corporations.
It is expected to easily pass in the Senate and be signed into law by President Obama. It is the result of compromise between the two wings of America's one party political system representing Wall Street and the very rich, the democrats and republicans.
Hungry Americans had already been devastated in the November 1, 2013 drop in funding for food stamps that cost 21 lost meals per month for a family of four
The centers will have the phrase "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche", in signs above the entrances to the centers. This, of course, is the famous phrase, "let them eat cake," uttered by the billionaire Queen of France, upon learning that the peasants had no bread to eat.
The 500 centers will serve inexpensive corn syrup cakes to the hungry.
"We had to cut the food stamp expenses," said John Boehner, GOP Speaker of the House. "We needed the money for the military," he said.
As an example of why some Americans should go hungry for other government expenditures, the speaker cited $800 toilet seat for the Navy's P-3 Antisubmarine Warfare (ASW) aircraft.
"And, of course, the military has decided to simply destroy more than $7 billion worth of equipment rather than sell it or ship it back home from Iraq and Afghanistan," Said the House Speaker.
"$7billion ain't chump change and cutting food stamps is one place to get the money to pay for that," explained Mr. Boehner.
