SPREAD THE WORD!Facebook3972TwitterFirst off, I am a gay Christian. Just a disclaimer.
Christian-Conservatives always love to play the victim whenever they can. It doesn’t matter what it is, they are always the ones who are being “discriminated against.”
That is why conservative heads exploded during the 2014 Grammy Awards last night when a “mass wedding” of 33 straight and gay couples said their vows and were joined in marriage while being serenaded my Mackelmore and Mary Lambert’s hit song “Same Love.”
“Same Love” was written in support of legalizing same-sex marriage, being not only a moral issue with Mackelmore, but a personal one, being that his uncle has been in a committed same-sex relationship for decades.
But apparently, while the Christian-Conservatives of America are using the government to tell gay and lesbian individuals who they cannot marry and adopt, they have theaudacity to claim that they themselves are the ones being “discriminated against.”
Todd Starnes, host of Fox News & Commentary tweeted, “Here it comes – the Grammys are mocking marriage.” He then went on to tweet, “I’ve never seen such a display of intolerance, bigotry and hatred. #Grammys #antichristian”

Scottie Nell Hughes, News Director for TPNN and contributor for Town Hall and Christian Post and frequent panelist on Fox News, took to twitter also and said “I love how they bash Christians yet make the backdrop a chapel w [sic] stained glass #Hypocrite” and she too went on to say “Everyone has rights unless you are a right wing conservative #attackonchristianity”

Dana Loesch tweeted “I always thought marriage was about making a covenant before God, not a Grammy audience.”

Mocking? Display of intolerance, bigotry, and hatred? Anti-Christian? Hypocrites? Attack on Christianity? Covenant? Oh dear, you guys are a special kind of stupid aren’t you?
Honestly, how dare you compare the oppression of gay rights to the “discrimination” of your cherry picked hatred of a group of people.
I have an idea, conservatives, if you don’t want to feel discriminated against, quit your repeated attacks on gay individuals who want nothing more than to live their lives with dignity, respect, and equality under the law.
I know how hard this might be for many of you to understand, but marriage is a civil right, whereas matrimony is a religious rite. There is a BIG  difference. You don’t have to accept same-sex marriages as a sacrament, but you do not reserve the right to tell them that they cannot be married under legal jurisdiction. And you say it’s you who is being discriminated against? HA!
Where is the logic, when you can tax gay people at a first class rate, but treat them like second class citizens, and claim you’re the ones being discriminated against?
So let me ask you, Christian-Conservatives, have you ever:
- had your right to be a teacher, secretary, nurse, police officer, firefighter, etc. taken away because you are Christian?
- been told you cannot marry the person you love and have been committed to because you’re Christian?
- been refused hospital visits, medical decisions, or tax benefits because of your Christian faith?
(The federal government accords 1,138 benefits and responsibilities based on marital status, not on civil union status. A few of those benefits are unpaid leave to care for an ill spouse, social security survivor benefits and spousal benefits, and the right not to testify against one’s spouse, among others.)
- told you cannot donate blood because you believe in Jesus?
- told you cannot adopt a child because of your “way of life?”
- been refused a job because you are Christian?
- told, at least for more than a decade, that you could not proudly serve your country because you are a Christian?
- had your lifestyle characterized as a mental disease?
- been called a child molester, rapist, pedophile, deviant?
- been told you can just “change” your religion because you chose it?
The answer to every single one of those is no, you have not. So shut your mouth about “discrimination” because you don’t know what you’re talking about. The fact that you call gay marriage “discrimination” is a balance between hilarious and sickening.
Why is there even a debate over whether sexual orientation is genetic or a choice? As if it being a choice gives you the right to deny it rights anyhow. Being a Christian is a choice, but that doesn’t mean two Christians can’t get married.
84% of LGBT youth personally had been verbally harassed at school (that is, called names or threatened) because
of their sexual orientation; 65.3% had been sexually harassed (e.g inappropriately touched or subjected to sexual comments); 39.1% had been physically harassed (by being shoved or pushed) and 17% had been assaulted (by being punched, kicked or injured with a weapon) at school because of their sexual orientation. 64.3% felt unsafe in their school because of their sexual orientation.
Tell me, Christians, do you feel unsafe? Have you been sexually, physically, or emotionally abused or assaulted because of your faith?
Gay and lesbian youth bear an increased risk of suicide, substance abuse, school problems, and isolation because of a “hostile and condemning environment, verbal and physical abuse, rejection and isolation from family and peers.” Tell me this, Christians: do you struggle with suicide because of society’s hostile and condemning environment (a.k.a discriminatory environment)?
You better check yourself next time you dare compare your “discrimination” to that of the LGBT community.
