On the Tea Party
We spoke about a number of issues with Professor Chomsky, including the Tea Party and its anarchistic tactics.
The Tea Party, which advocates for fiscal conservatism in certain government sectors, rose to prominence in 2009 following the election of Barack Obama and other democratic candidates that swept elections. It is characterized by its radically far-right views and its animosity towards the political, social, and economic changes that have taken shape in America since the early 20th century, including cultural pluralism and multiculturalism.
The Tea Party successfully shut the U.S. government down for 16 days in October of 2013 by convincing lawmakers not to appropriate funds for fiscal year 2014 unless "Obamacare" was defunded. They did so despite the fact that the statute had already been signed into law.
Radio VR talked with Dr. Chomsky because this directly challenged the legitimacy of established policy-making procedures in the United States and can be seen as an anarchistic strategy.
