MILEY, WHO IS IN TIME'S TOP 10 PERSON'S OF YEAR FOR HER EXPLOSIVE SEXUALITY AND EXHIBITIONISM - - WHAT TIME CALLS HER 'CULTURAL POWER, ' GIVES THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT -- MASTURBATION AND SELF-MUTILATION.
Miley Cyrus has hit out at criticism of her behaviour by claiming that she is just playing a "character".
The 'Wrecking Ball' singer has courted controversy this year due to a number of high-profile incidents, including her much-discussed performance at the MTV VMA's when she danced with giant teddy bears and twerked on singer Robin Thicke.
In an interview with the New York Times, however, Cyrus said that she was shocked by how people had reacted to her actions. "I went from people just thinking I was, like, a baby to people thinking I'm this, like, sex freak that really just pops molly and does lines all day," she said.
"It's like, 'Has anyone ever heard of rock 'n' roll?'" the "Wrecking Ball" singer countered. "There's a sex scene in pretty much every single movie, and they go, 'Well, that's a character.' Well, that's a character. I don't really dress as a teddy bear and, like, twerk on Robin Thicke, you know?"
Yesterday (December 27), Cyrus revealed the video for her new single, 'Adore You'. In the clip, Cyrus apparently pretends to masturbate, writhing around in white bedsheets, licking and biting herself whilst also filming herself - scroll down and click to watch.
Miley Cyrus was named in the Top 10 of Time magazine's Person of the Year poll. Other figures to appear on the shortlist include Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Pope Francis, Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, NSA leaker Edward Snowden, gay rights activist Edith Windsor and 2012 winner, President Barack Obama.
