While there is no doubt that Snowden violated federal regulations and laws concerning the release of classified information, there is a growing sense within the American public that his actions were in response to a higher priority, to expose wrong-doing under the auspices of governmental authority that threatened the very fundamentals of freedom and liberty our nation has been based upon. The images of the horrendous terrorist attacks of 9/11/01 are gradually fading from our daily memories, and our fear of reoccurrence has been lessened by the security systems that have been established, but NSA and the surveillance industry it has created apparently have an insatiable appetite and is continuing to grow massively in highly covert ways that lack authorization and oversight even by those in high office. For the most expansive building in the US to be built to house the secret surveillance data being collected daily on all Americans calls into question whether we really merit being called "the land of the free, the home of the brave".
